Carle Green had a solid result at the Busselton Half Ironman at the weekend finishing 5th in my division and taking out quite a few pro’s in the process – not quite up to his usual podium standards but he’s had some back problems the last month which have effected so training so all things considered he tells us he is happy with the result.

Duathlon Race Report from one of our sponsored athletes Renee Baker

After three months training in boulder, Colorado I was feeling fit and fresh ready to roll for the state Duathlon championships.

It involved a 5km run, 21km ride and a 2.5km run. The gun went off and there were the top 5 girls running very quick!! The slowest first 5km was a 19.40 so it was fast. I settled into a good pace and ran into 4th before the bike leg.

Onto the bike and I knew I could catch a few. First lap down and I caught jaz hedgeland and I felt strong into third.  I knew stephanie and Rachel were in front by at least a minute and I knew I could catch Stephanie. I pushed hard for the last two laps but still couldn’t see her.

Off the bike and onto the last run and I could see first and second. But they were too far ahead. I knew tineke was on my heels so i regained focus and ran a strong 2.5km to finish a comfortable third.

A great start to the 2012 season. Big thanks to Cyclemania for all there support in my training and racing.

One of our sponsored riders, Troy Main has been performing well overseas and had his professional Triathlon debut. An awesome result in 7th – see his report below

On Saturday the 14th of July I debuted in my first 5150 triathlon race and placed 7th within the Professional category. With a lot of money up for grabs, a course that suited me and a great result at Skinfit Sempachersee triathlon the weekend earlier I was extremely excited to have a real crack against the stacked-field.  Zurich was also going to be the first race in Europe that I planned to tapper for.

I have been working extremely hard on my swim, so I  tried to match myself against the other guys early, unfortunately I didn’t know at the time, I was racing against some of the top swimmers in the sport and found myself hitting a wall and thus falling off the pace around the 1km mark. Unfortunately after this I didn’t seem to be able to get into any sort of rhythm through-out the remainder of the race as I felt tired, powerless and heavy through-out the bike and run. None the less I pushed as hard as I could for the rest of the day and I have defiantly found the style of racing I want to continue in.

Over-all I shouldn’t be too disappointed, this one result now has me ranked 125th in the World Triathlon Cooperation (WTC) points. For the first time since I have been here I will now have a weekend-off racing (7weekends of back-to-back racing) and will line up on the start line again in Nyon on the 4th of August  .

Thanks for all of the support in helping me make my dreams become reality.

Troy Main.
